High in the Thin Cold Air is a book by Sir Edmund Hillary and Desmond Doig chronicling the 1960-1961 Himalayan Scientific and Mountaineering Expedition. The expedition, sponsored by the World Book Encyclopedia, had a dual purpose: to conduct scientific research, particularly on the effects of high altitude on the human body, and to search for evidence of the legendary Yeti. The book was first published in 1962.
