Narrative of thE first kayak circumnavigation of NZ's South Island in 1978. First half describes the trip around Fiordland, with descriptions of the crayfishermen, lighthouse keepers and the fiords. Second half - Paul's solo journey around the South Island to Te Waewae Bay, highlighted by encounters with wild surf, killer whales and tide races. Illustrated with drawings, and both black and white and colour photos. 
176 pages, 38 detailed maps show the route followed.
