An oriori is a chant, song or lullaby composed for young children by their parents or extended family. It tells of the child's origins and is intended to honour the child and encourage it to continue on its path in life. Striking visual imagery in the form of 20 paintings by Robyn Kahukiwa are accompanied by Roma Potiki's text which explores related ideas and emotions. Robyn Kahukiwa is one of New Zealand's best known and most respected artists. She has exhibited widely in New Zealand and overseas to great acclaim.
