This excellent publication looks at six distinctive South Island locations plus Stewart Island. The book is a little unusual in that Gaskin prepared both text and illustrations and both are of the highest quality. His exquisite artwork covers wildlife, from butterflies and birds to seals, the vegetation of each area is described and pictured as is the changes in terrain, archeology and geology. His is a novel and refreshing approach to ecological matters. 176 pages including illustrations list and acknowledgements, 16 full page colour art works with b/w art throughout, many full pages, maps, including location maps for each chapter.
