A powerful, raw, and deeply moving collection of oral history chronicling the ANZAC experience in Southeast Asia. Drawing from over one hundred remarkably candid interviews with Australian servicemen who deployed from 1965 to 1971, journalist Stuart Rintoul builds a harrowing, unvarnished portrait of the conflict. The text covers the intensity of active jungle combat, the psychological toll of the war, and the painful isolation of returning home to a hostile or indifferent public. Complete with maps and extensive photographic plates, it stands as a cornerstone testimony of the ANZAC perspective on the Vietnam War.
