Author's note: "Mrs Aline Quin, the first New Zealand airwoman to make a trans-continental flight, is the last survivor of a Wairarapa family of six Barton sisters. This is some of her story, pieced together from many happy interviews and from the few letters to her family which her mother preserved. "Mabel Alexandra (Aline) Quin (nee Barton) 1899-1996, was born in Featherston. She was the first New Zealand woman to make a transcontinental flight (England to Nairobi). She flew in a Gypsy Moth (her own plane).
