Publisher: Ian Allan, London, 1964, first edition.

Original blue cloth boards, silver titles to spine. Boards show slight fading to the edges and minor compression at the extremities. Binding is firm and square. Internally very good and clean with occasional minor marks; light foxing to the closed page edges. Previous owner's name neatly whited out on the front free end-paper.
In the original dust jacket, which is rubbed, has faded spine colour, and exhibits quite chipped edges and minor creasing. Jacket is price-clipped.

A classic wartime aviation memoir.
• D.H. Clarke: A self-styled "type-hog" and veteran pilot who flew more than 50 different types of aircraft over nearly a decade and a half of active military flying.
• Aircraft Covered: The book compiles his firsthand accounts and impressions of handling a wide variety of British, American, German, and Italian aircraft from the World War II era (including types like the P-40 Kittyhawk, Hawker Henley, Blackburn Roc, Macchi C.200, and various captured enemy machines).
