Good hardback, paper cracked and a bit torn at internal hinges but pages firm, some rubbing, bumping, creasing, fading and marks to boards, heavy rubbing to corners, spine edges and ends, inscription dated 1892 to reverse of half-title page, foxing, tanning and creasing to pages, large closed tear that goes through most of page 31, a little chipping to some edges. 24 full page engravings all present and in good condition. 2 fold-out maps: 'The World' & 'Australia' creased and foxed with a couple of tears. 1176 pages, illustrated, plus publisher's catalogue. Rear end-papers have been removed.
