New Zealanders have long admired their military heroes. In New Zealand's Military Heroism New Zealand's Military Heroism Matthew Wright tells the stories of heroes from all the major conflicts that New Zealanders have played a part in over the last 150 years, including the New Zealand Wars, the two World Wars and peacekeeping duties in the 1990s. Using selected military campaigns and the stories of decorated service people, this richly illustrated and thoroughly researched book offers new ways of understanding New Zealand's military heroism. By looking at soldiers' ideals of courage and investigating the definition of heroism, Military Heroism finds wider historical meanings in the fates of our decorated heroes.
