Pictorial Cloth. 222 pages, colour frontis; 4 black & white full page illustrations, original buff cloth with illustrated front cover & spine, binding firm, some bumping to edges, minor marks, presentation plate and bookseller's stamp to ffep, light foxing throughout, couple of creased corners, one page has a small piece torn off corner and a small tear in margin. Colour frontispiece and 4 b&w plates in very good condition. 190 x 130mm .

The first children's adventure and survival story to be written by a New Zealander. Edith Annie Howes MBE was a New Zealand teacher, educationalist, and writer of children's literature. She was a Member of the Order of the British Empire and received the King George VI Coronation Medal for her services to literature.
