Rua, a young Maori boy with only vague knowledge of the past from his grandmother's stories, is accidentally plunged back in time to the New Zealand of more than 100 years ago. At about the same time as the American Indians were making their desperate stand against the European settlers who had annexed their lands. A similar struggle was being waged in New Zealand. Again The Bugles Blow tells a small part of that struggle-
- the Maori Wars of the 1860s-through the adventure of a Maori boy who finds himself involved in a very strange way in some of the skirmishes. Here is a story with an interesting twist. It is also an authenic picture of the period.
