Abrasion to ffep where inscription has been erased, dento on top of spine has caused a crease to most pages at internal corner, bookseller's stamp to ffep, light foxing, binding firm. Jacket is price-clipped, rubbed, creased, chipped and marked with some loss to spine ends, tape at edges, small hole on spine. 205 pages, illustrated.

The author s journey as a new colonist in Otago in 1862, later moving to Hawke s Bay and finally to Australia.
