This is set comprises of vols 54 to 65.
All but 3 are complete volumes in hardcovers with no dust jackets.
2 copies are softbacks Vol 58 (part 1 & 2) and Vol 62 part 1.
Volume 54 as is described below.
All are in good condition. Covers are frayed, rubbed, marked, chipped and worn, foxing and minor marks scattered throughout, binding tight, labels are rubbed, marked and torn.
Thick card covers. Brown cloth spine. Paper spine label.
Fold out maps and illustrations in good condition.
Vol 57 has owner details on front cover.
Vol 60 has bubbling to paper paste downs.
Vol 62 has a stamp to first page.
Vol 63 has a gouge on front cover.
PLEASE NOTE: I have included Vol 54 even though one article has been torn out (Studies in NZ Hymenophyllacae, pages 577 to 618) torn out, as it still includes landmark anthropological papers by Te Rangi Hiroa (Sir Peter Buck) on Maori weavers, and 'Introduction to Maori Music' by Johannes Andersen.
The appendices have stains to edges.
The Transactions and Proceedings of the Royal Society of New Zealand was a scientific journal and magazine published by the Royal Society of New Zealand. Before 1933 the society was called the New Zealand Institute. It was active between 1868 and 1961 and was the most important scientific journal in New Zealand.
Contents include Anthropology; Botany; Zoology; Geology; Entomology; Ethnology; Astronomy; Palaeontology; Physics; Chemistry, and Agriculture.
Charles Fleming & Harold John Finlay: Are two legendary figures in New Zealand paleontology, geology, and ornithology. Their papers detailing fossil shells (conchology) and New Zealand bird species are heavily illustrated with gorgeous, crisp photographic plates.
There is also foundational ecological work by Leonard Cockayne.
