The essence of hunting - and a plea for the future of the sport. Tony Orman is a deerstalker who thinks deeply about his sport. He is worried about the hunters who shoot only with dollar-signs in their eyes. He is worried, too, about government departments he sees as bent on extermination of deer in this country; he denies flatly that deer are responsible for half the damage they're blamed for. This book is a heartfelt plea for a return to reason and sanity in deer-stalking, for a return to the days of careful, skilled and selective shooting, when indiscriminate slaughter was shunned. This book contains the reflections of a thinking, caring deerstalker. It also contains numerous stories of thrilling hunts that will appeal to skilled hunter and novice alike, and practical advice based on years of successful deer stalking' b/w plates & illustrations;
