Ion Idriess became a prolific writer on the Australian Outback. "Men of the Jungle" was one of his earliest titles and one of the most popular, based on its record of reprints. The book was first published in 1932, it was reprinted twice in that year, twice in 1933, followed by 10 reprints before this 16th reprint of 1953. "Men of the Jungle" recalls his time in Northern Queensland as a tin miner and gold prospector in the Cooktown area. He tells of exploring the wild lands, life in the mining camps and encounters with the aboriginal folk of the area in the days before WWI.
