Photographer Ans Westra has worked amongst Maori people. She attended formal occasions, visited people in the country, travelled to Waitangi, and photographed on the streets of various cities. This selection, beginning with photographs of young children and finishing with kaumatua or elders, represents the best of her work. Accompanying words by writer Katarina Mataira use both Maori and English to set the photograph in context. The Ans Westra legacy, has, so far, spanned the tumultuous period 1957 to 1985, and the grown of the Maori as a nation. 162 pages, photos.
