The author builds a narrative with iconic buildings of New Zealand and their well-known architects, further describing how styles developed around these. A good overview of NZ styles based on regions. The typical Christchurch typology is the cottage, as seen in Donnithorne House, 1952. Miles Warren was a proponent of brutalism, which heavily influenced the Christchurch style. Opposed to this is the flamboyant, ad-hoc style made popular Ian Athfield and Roger Walker.
