Good hardback, blue cloth boards with gilt titles to spine and gilt decoration to front cover, top edge of pages are gilt coloured but dulled down, no jacket. Rubbing and bumping to boards with minor marks, spine ends are frayed and chipped, some fading to spine. Binding firm, name blacked out inside front board. Heavy foxing to end-papers, light scattered foxing throughout. Tissue guard to frontispiece. Two fold-out maps at rear, both have a repaired tear at inner margin, and one has a tear at outside edge and bottom margin.

253 pages, illustrated.

Includes chapters on chapters on Whangaroa, North Cape, Hauraki Goldfields, Mayor Island, The Urewera, Karamea and the Southern Alps.
