Very good hardback with jacket, binding firm, some minor bumping, bump to base of spine has caused a small light crease to internal corner of some pages, inscriptions inside front board and to ffep, light foxing to end-papers and page edges, pages very good, minor marks, clear tape inside boards where Jacket was once attached.
Jacket is laminated and has some shelf-wear with marks chipping and a couple of small tears. 90 pages, illustrated.
This book deals with whaling and sealing in and around the Chatham Islands. One of the most prolific whaling grounds of the Pacific, it attracted many American whalers.
Seals despite Moriori warnings were quickly reduced. However written records are meagre
and this book greatly helps to supplement them.
